Nothing is as authentically “Aussie” as a jammy Shiraz. That is exactly what Sir Oscar Darby offers with our 2020 vintage from the vineyards of South Australia. This wine bursts with bold black fruit flavor and peppery spice. Outside of France, Australia is the top producer of Syrah wines; only here they are labeled as Shiraz. These reds are notably bigger and bolder than their French counterparts, focusing more on New World fruit-forward flavors than Old World austerity. While the story of how these wines came to be called Shiraz differs depending on who you ask, there is no question that this European variety thrives in the high temperatures and arid growing conditions of Australia. Wines that embody this Down Under styling worldwide are labeled as Shiraz, even if they come from outside Australia. We encourage you to share this bottle and its story with your closest mates.
